About Hout Bay
Hout Bay sits on the cold Atlantic side of the Cape Peninsula, where Chapman's Peak Drive – a nine-kilometre cliff road blasted into the seaward face of Chapman's Peak between 1915 and 1922 – curves south above the harbour. The sheltered 1.3-kilometre Hout Bay Beach lines the harbour side for families and walkers, while granite-bouldered Llandudno Beach in the next cove north draws surfers and sundowners. The Benguela Current keeps the sea at a brisk 13-16 °C from December through March, with Cape Town International airport roughly 35 minutes by road.
