About Wineglass Bay (Tasmania)

On the east coast of Tasmania, Wineglass Bay carves a flawless crescent of white sand into the Freycinet Peninsula, framed by pink-granite domes inside the state's oldest national park, gazetted in 1916. The bay is reached by an hour's hike over the saddle, while Hazards Beach across the isthmus closes the classic circuit on the western side. While swimming is brief and bracing, the sea sits between 16 and 18 °C from December through March.
