About Punta del Este
Punta del Este sits where the Río de la Plata meets the South Atlantic, anchored by La Mano – five giant fingers sculpted in concrete and steel by Chilean artist Mario Irarrázabal in 1982, emerging from the city's eastern beach. Playa Brava rolls in with open-Atlantic surf on the peninsula's east side; Playa Mansa, sheltered on the river side, stays calm and family-grade. Sea temperatures hold between 22 °C72 °F and 24 °C75 °F from December through March; Capitán Curbelo airport sits 25 minutes by road.
