About Ipanema

Rio's South Zone unfurls along a single Atlantic strip anchored by Dois Irmãos, the 533-metre twin granite peaks that rise above the Vidigal favela and close Ipanema's western horizon. To the west, Leblon Beach runs quieter and more affluent across the Jardim de Alá canal; to the east, Arpoador Beach gathers surfers and sunset crowds on its headland rock. Sea temperatures climb to 26–27 °C from December through March, with Galeão International Airport about 45 minutes by Linha Vermelha.
