About Gardner Bay

The Galápagos Archipelago, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978, drew Charles Darwin aboard HMS Beagle in 1835 and seeded his theory of natural selection; Gardner Bay lies on the north-eastern flank of Española, the oldest main island. The beach unfolds a kilometre of fine coral sand without shade, shared with sea-lion colonies, while Gardner Islet a hundred metres offshore offers a snorkel channel patrolled by white-tip reef sharks. Sea temperatures range 22–26 °C year-round, with the cool Humboldt-driven months of June through December bringing the richest wildlife.
