About Praia do Tamariz
The Costa do Estoril, the Portuguese Riviera west of Lisbon, is anchored by Casino Estoril, opened in 1916 and reputedly Europe's largest – Ian Fleming drew on it for Casino Royale during his wartime stay. Praia do Tamariz unfurls a 250-metre sand crescent in front of the casino, complete with a historic seawater tidal pool, while Praia da Poça sits in the next cove east as a quieter family beach. Atlantic water hovers around 18–20 °C from July through September; Lisbon airport lies 25 minutes by the A5.
