About Kynance Cove

On Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula, just north of mainland Britain's southernmost point, Kynance Cove is framed by serpentinite cliffs of the Lizard Complex — roughly 400-million-year-old red-green marbled rock that also forms the offshore stacks of Asparagus Island, Steeple Rock and The Bishop. Golden sand emerges between the cliffs at low tide in an hourglass shape, while a few kilometres north Mullion Cove shelters a small Victorian harbour reached by the South West Coast Path. The Atlantic warms to a swimmable 16–18 °C from July through September.
