About Durdle Door
The Jurassic Coast, UNESCO-listed since 2001, has no more recognisable silhouette than Durdle Door – a natural Portland-limestone arch on the Dorset shore, eroded by the English Channel and rising some 30 metres above the water. Pebble-and-sand Durdle Door Beach curves directly beneath the arch, Man o'War Beach hugs the next cove east with its offshore rocks, and the near-circular Lulworth Cove sits a kilometre further along. Sea temperatures peak at a brisk 16–18 °C from July through September, with Bournemouth airport 45 minutes away via the A35.
