About San Sebastián
San Sebastián, known in Basque as Donostia, curves around La Concha bay on the southern edge of the Bay of Biscay, twenty kilometres west of the French border in the province of Gipuzkoa. Playa de la Concha rings the central crescent with fine, tide-flat sand sheltered by Santa Clara island, while surf-tuned Playa de Zurriola breaks open to the Atlantic on the Gros side of the Urumea river. Sea temperatures reach 20–22 °C68–72 °F from July through September, the only swimmable window on this coast.
