About Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach hugs the South Bay coast north of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and its anchor is the Manhattan Beach Pier — a 280-metre concrete pier built in 1920 with the octagonal Roundhouse Aquarium and its white-painted cupola at the end. El Porto stretches north as a local surf break under the refinery skyline, while Hermosa Beach runs south with a livelier pier and broader sand. The Pacific holds a kelp-dark 18-20 °C from July through September, with LAX about fifteen minutes by Sepulveda Boulevard.
