About Hamnøy

Hamnøy is one of the oldest fishing villages in the Lofoten archipelago, on Moskenesøya island 169 km north of the Arctic Circle, where red-painted rorbu cabins on stilts line the harbour beneath the granite Festhælltinden. Behind looms the Lofotveggen, a continuous mountain wall, while remote Kvalvika and Bunes unfurl kilometre-long crescents of white sand against turquoise water. Visitors come for the scenery rather than swimming, as the sea peaks at 12–14 °C in July and August.
