About Reynisfjara
Reynisfjara stretches along Iceland's south coast just west of Vík í Mýrdal, where the ink-black sand of pulverised basalt meets the open North Atlantic with no land between it and Antarctica. The cliff at its eastern end shelters the hexagonal Gardar basalt columns and a small set of sea caves, while the Reynisdrangar stacks rise as jagged silhouettes a few hundred metres offshore, drawing visitors for the sneaker waves and raw coastal geometry. Sea temperatures stay between 6 and 10 °C year-round.
