About Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach anchors the northern Oregon coast around Haystack Rock, a 72-metre basalt sea stack rising straight from the surf, protected within the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge and a nesting site for tufted puffins. Indian Beach sits south inside Ecola State Park between cliffs and forest, while Hug Point hides a waterfall and a sea cave reachable only at low tide. The Pacific peaks at 14–16 °C in August; swimming is not the point – visitors come for the tidepools, with Portland airport ninety minutes east on US-26.
