About Barr Al Jissah
On the Gulf of Oman coast 14 kilometres southeast of the capital, the bay sits in a natural cove where the Al Hajar Mountains drop 90-metre limestone cliffs straight into the sea, framing the three-hotel Shangri-La resort opened in 2005. Yiti Beach lies in the next bay east, a local stretch popular for Bedouin camping; further on, the Bandar Khayran marine reserve protects mangroves and dhow-charter snorkel waters. The sea warms to 28–31 °C82–88 °F from July through September, with Muscat International airport 45 minutes by road.
