About Marsa Alam

On Egypt's southern Red Sea coast, Marsa Alam sits beside Wadi El Gemal National Park, a 7,450-square-kilometre desert-and-reef reserve protecting marine life and Nubian ibex, while offshore the Dolphin House Reef at Sha'ab Samadai shelters a resident pod of spinner dolphins in its horseshoe lagoon. Abu Dabbab Beach to the north is known for sea turtles and grazing dugongs; Sharm El Luli to the south draws a turquoise postcard bay. Sea temperatures hold 28–29 °C from July through September and stay above 23 °C year-round; the airport is one hour by road.
