About Sharm El Sheikh

At the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, where the Gulf of Aqaba meets the Red Sea, Sharm El Sheikh fronts a fringing coral reef anchored by Ras Mohammed National Park — Egypt's first protected area, declared 1983, with vertical walls dropping 800 metres past the Shark and Yolanda reefs. Naama Bay forms the busy crescent of resorts and dive boats, while Sharks Bay lies quieter to the north over the same shallow lagoon. Sea temperatures hold 27–29 °C from June to October; the airport is 15 minutes by road.
