Turkey beach holidays
Turkey's seaside brings together the pleasures of a resort holiday and a country rich in history. Breakfast might stretch across a table of bread, olives and cheese before a day at the beach, a harbour walk or a visit to ancient ruins. The Mediterranean and Aegean coasts offer different settings, from large family resorts to smaller bays and sailing towns.
Antalya or the Aegean coast?
Antalya holidays are a starting point for the Turkish Riviera. The old town of Antalya, the ruins around Side and the resort areas of Belek give the region more variety than a hotel beach alone. An all inclusive stay can suit families who want meals and activities in one place, but the beach type and access still deserve a closer look.
The Aegean side has its own appeal. Bodrum holidays combine a harbour town, restaurants and bays around the peninsula. Further along the southwestern coast, Ölüdeniz is known for its lagoon and mountain backdrop. Boat trips and walks add another way to experience this part of the country.
Timing and local flavour
Summer is the main beach season, with hot days along the southern coast. Late spring and early autumn can suit travellers who want to balance swimming with archaeological sites and town visits. The Aegean and Mediterranean do not warm at exactly the same pace, so choose the coast before deciding on an early-season break. Beyond the resorts, make time for a market, a glass of tea or a meal of regional meze: these small stops give a beach holiday a stronger sense of place.

Remove your shoes before entering a mosque and cover your shoulders, arms and knees; women also cover their hair, so a light scarf is useful.
