About Amadores Beach
Gran Canaria's southern tip is shaped by the Dunas de Maspalomas, a six-square-kilometre expanse of windblown golden sand declared a protected nature reserve in 1987. Amadores Beach sits further west on the Mogán coast, an 800-metre crescent of imported white sand and calm turquoise water held by twin breakwaters, while Playa del Inglés runs busier under the eastern edge of the dunes. The Atlantic and Canary Current hold the sea between 22 and 24 °C from July through September, with Gran Canaria airport about 40 minutes east on the GC-1.
