About Tenerife
Largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is anchored by El Teide, a 3,715-metre volcano whose surrounding national park earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 2007 and crowns Spain as its highest peak. On the upscale Costa Adeje, Playa del Duque offers blue-flag golden sand; on the north coast, Playa Jardín spreads black volcanic sand landscaped by César Manrique. Atlantic waters held by the cool Canary Current stay around 22–23 °C from July through September, with Tenerife South airport fifteen minutes from the southern resorts.
