About Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio National Park, established 1972 on Costa Rica's central Pacific coast south of Quepos, packs squirrel monkeys, sloths and capuchins into the country's smallest reserve, where rainforest meets ocean within metres of the sand. Outside the entrance, Playa Espadilla runs a long public strip with vendors and surf schools, while Playa Espadilla Sur lies inside the park, sheltered by the Punta Catedral tombolo that links a former island to shore. Sea temperatures hold between 28 and 29 °C82 and 84 °F from January through December, swimmable year-round.
