About Varadero

The Hicacos Peninsula juts twenty-two kilometres northeast from Cuba's Matanzas coast into the Florida Straits, carrying the longest continuous white-sand strand in the Caribbean. Playa de Varadero runs the full spine of the peninsula in shallow, turquoise water, while its tip is protected as Parque Natural Punta Hicacos, where Cueva de Ambrosio preserves pre-Columbian Taino petroglyphs on its limestone walls. The sea climbs to 28-29 °C from July through September, with Juan Gualberto Gómez airport twenty-five minutes by road.
