About Cayo Levantado

Cayo Levantado is a small palm-covered island anchoring Samaná Bay on the Dominican Republic's northeast coast, famous as the launch cove for whale-watching boats tracking 1,500 to 2,000 humpbacks that calve here from January through March. On the mainland peninsula, Las Galeras Beach runs 1.5 kilometres of local, low-rise sand, while Playa Rincón sits an hour away by boat as one of the country's wildest strands. Sea temperatures hold between 27 and 29 °C year-round, with Samaná El Catey airport roughly 75 minutes away including the short crossing.
