Alcúdia holidays
Alcúdia is a town and resort on the north-east coast of Mallorca, set between the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia. Its old town is enclosed by restored medieval walls, and beside it lie the ruins of Pollentia, the island's main Roman city. The resort area stretches south from the fishing and ferry harbour of Port d'Alcúdia along one of Mallorca's longest sandy beaches.
Beaches
Alcúdia's main beach, Playa de Alcúdia, runs for several kilometres south from the port: fine pale sand and shallow, gently shelving water that suits children, backed by hotels and a promenade. Further south it continues as Playa de Muro, with dunes and pine woods behind the sand. For smaller coves, the rocky Cap des Pinar peninsula east of the port has quieter spots such as Coll Baix, reached on foot.
Things to do
In Alcúdia, walk the town walls and the old-town lanes, then the Roman site of Pollentia just outside the gates. The Hidropark water park is in the resort area, and the S'Albufera wetland behind Playa de Muro is a nature park known for birdwatching. The Formentor peninsula, with its lighthouse and viewpoints, is a nearby excursion, but seasonal vehicle restrictions apply in summer, when the public bus is the way to reach the lighthouse; ferries from Port d'Alcúdia sail to Menorca.

From June to November the sea at Alcúdia is warmer than 20 °C / 68 °F.
In Alcúdia, the resort is busiest from June to September; May and October are quieter and still warm, while in winter many hotels in the resort area close.

In Alcúdia, the old town suits a stay with restaurants and history on the doorstep, while most beach hotels line Playa de Alcúdia and Playa de Muro with direct access to the sand. Port d'Alcúdia is the lively end, with the marina and the ferry harbour.

Airport and getting there
Alcúdia is about 50 to 60 minutes by road from Palma de Mallorca airport on the Ma-13 motorway. Buses link Alcúdia with Palma and with Pollença, and ferries sail from Port d'Alcúdia to Ciutadella on Menorca.
