Cala d'Hort holidays
Ibiza is the third-largest of the Balearic Islands, about 40 km long, known both for its nightlife and for quiet coves along a mostly rocky coast. Its capital, Ibiza Town (Eivissa), is crowned by Dalt Vila, the walled upper town listed by UNESCO in 1999 together with the island's Posidonia seagrass meadows. The sea temperature on this page is for the south-west coast at Cala d'Hort, facing the islet of Es Vedrà.
Beaches
Ibiza's beaches range from long sandy bays to small rocky coves. Cala d'Hort on the south-west coast looks straight at the limestone islet of Es Vedrà, with a beach of sand and pebbles and clear, deep water. Near Ibiza Town, Platja d'en Bossa is the island's longest sandy beach and the heart of its beach-club scene, while Cala Comte in the west is known for shallow turquoise water and sunsets.
Things to do
On Ibiza, walk up through the gates of Dalt Vila to the cathedral terrace above the harbour. Sunset at Cala d'Hort, with Es Vedrà on the horizon, is one of the island's classic evenings, and the clubs and open-air venues of Platja d'en Bossa and Sant Antoni open for the season from late April to October, with dates varying by venue. The ferry from Ibiza Town to Formentera, about half an hour by fast boat, makes an easy day trip.

On Ibiza, Ibiza Town and Platja d'en Bossa put nightlife and the old town within easy reach, Sant Antoni in the west is a major resort town, and the north around Portinatx and Sant Joan is quieter and greener. Around Cala d'Hort there are only a few small places to stay.

Airport and getting there
Ibiza airport is near Ibiza Town, about 30 to 40 minutes by road from Cala d'Hort. Ferries connect Ibiza with Formentera, mainland Spain and Mallorca.
