About Barcelona
Barcelona meets the Mediterranean at Barceloneta, the dense 18th-century fishermen's quarter pushed against the seafront and remade for the 1992 Olympics between the Llobregat and Besòs river mouths. The southern Platja de la Barceloneta runs busiest, lined with chiringuitos beneath the sail-shaped W Hotel, while Platja de la Nova Icària sits quieter northeast behind the Vila Olímpica. Sea temperatures hold between 23 and 25 °C73 and 77 °F from July through September, with El Prat airport roughly 25 minutes by the C-32.
