About Hvar
Central Dalmatia's most recognizable island silhouette belongs to Hvar, crowned by the hilltop Fortica fortress – a 16th-century Venetian bastion rebuilt after the Ottoman raid of 1571, overlooking the harbour and the Pakleni Islands offshore. Southeast along the coast, the pebbly Dubovica cove sits beneath a single stone house in postcard isolation, while a short water-taxi hop reaches Palmižana on St. Klement, the archipelago's sand-and-pebble flagship. Sea temperatures hold between 24 and 26 °C from July through September.
