About Monaco
Hugging the French Riviera between Cap-d'Ail and Cap-Martin, Monaco wraps barely two square kilometres around Le Rocher, the limestone headland crowned since 1297 by the Grimaldis' Palais Princier, and Monte-Carlo, whose 1863 Belle Époque casino was designed by Charles Garnier. The principality counts a single proper beach: Larvotto, a recently rebuilt 500-metre crescent of pale pebbles facing east into a sheltered, low-swell bay. Sea temperatures climb between 22 and 25 °C from July through September, and Nice Côte d'Azur airport sits 35 minutes west along the A8.
