About Málaga
The Costa del Sol begins in Málaga at the foot of the Alcazaba, an 11th-century Hammudid fortified palace linked by a curtain wall to the hilltop Castillo de Gibralfaro above the port. Playa de la Malagueta runs 1.2 kilometres of dark sand beside the harbour, while Playa de Pedregalejo breaks into small calas in the former fishermen's quarter where espetos of sardines grill over driftwood. Sea temperatures hold 22–23 °C72–73 °F from July through September, with Málaga-Costa del Sol airport twenty minutes by the A-7.
