About Nerja

On the eastern edge of the Costa del Sol, Nerja is anchored by the Balcón de Europa, a palm-lined clifftop promenade laid out in the 19th century on a Moorish fortress site. East of town, Playa de Burriana spreads 800 metres of busy sand with paella shacks, while Playa de Maro tucks into the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo reserve beside the Cuevas de Nerja, whose ochre paintings rank among Europe's oldest. Sea temperatures hold at 22–23 °C from July through September, with Málaga airport an hour west on the A-7.
