About Kendwa

The northwestern tip of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago, breaks the deep tidal swings that empty most of Tanzania's east-coast beaches twice daily – coral shelves here keep the water inside the cove. Kendwa Beach stays swimmable through every tide stage along a kilometre of powder sand and turquoise shallows; three kilometres south, livelier Nungwi Beach lines a dhow harbour known for its sunset sails. Sea temperatures hold between 27 and 29 °C year-round, with Abeid Amani Karume International Airport about 75 minutes south by road.
