About Ely's Harbor
Ely's Harbour shelters on Bermuda's western tip in Sandys Parish, a short walk from Somerset Bridge – at 32 inches across, the smallest working drawbridge in the world, opened just wide enough for a sailboat mast. The closest swim is Daniel's Head Beach, a quiet cove of pink-tinged sand from crushed Homotrema rubrum foraminifera with a snorkel reef offshore; Mangrove Bay lies one inlet east with calmer shallows. Sea temperatures hold between 27 and 29 °C81 and 84 °F from July through October, with L.F. Wade International about 50 minutes by South Road.
