About Isola Bella
On Sicily's Ionian coast, Isola Bella is a pebble-fringed islet declared a nature reserve in 1990 and managed by WWF, linked to the Taormina shore by a narrow tombolo that surfaces and submerges with the tide. Spiaggia di Mazzarò curves around the mainland side as a wide pebble crescent backed by bathing concessions, while Spiaggia di Spisone runs quieter just north with Mount Etna rising inland. Sea temperatures hold between 25 and 27 °C77 and 81 °F from July through September, with Catania-Fontanarossa airport fifty minutes south via the A18.
