About Mondello
The Gulf of Mondello curves between Monte Pellegrino and Monte Gallo twelve kilometres from central Palermo, and at its midpoint stands the Antico Stabilimento Balneare, a 1913 Liberty-style bathing pavilion designed by Rudolf Stualker. The namesake Spiaggia di Mondello fans out for 1.5 kilometres of fine pale-yellow sand into shallow turquoise water, while the rocky coves of Capo Gallo marine reserve and the fishing harbour at Sferracavallo sit just west. The sea climbs to 25–27 °C77–81 °F from July through September, with Palermo Falcone Borsellino airport thirty-five minutes by road.
