Where is hot in October for a beach holiday?

October is a month for choosing the coast carefully. Rhodes and southern Turkey hold more warmth in the sea than the northern Adriatic, while Egypt's Red Sea offers a warmer-water alternative in our averages. The Canary Islands suit a mix of seaside time and exploring, but their Atlantic water should be compared directly with the Mediterranean rather than assumed to be warmer.

An autumn swim or a tropical escape?

Compare Lindos on Rhodes with Hurghada if swimming is the main reason for the trip. In a Mediterranean resort, check late-season restaurant and excursion availability for your exact dates. Further afield, warm Caribbean seas still coincide with hurricane season, while the Maldives remain in their usual wetter monsoon period.
